Plagiarizing

It's only been a few days since the NeoGenesis Interview was posted, and there are already instances of plagiarism popping up.

We're hoping to stay positive about the whole affair and not point any fingers because it might have really just been an accident.

To make this clear, this is what plagiarism means to us here.

Plagiarism, for us, means that our content was taken by someone else, and the copier got the readership and visits, and we at Mou Ichido don't. The ladies at Monoxious sum this up quite well,  "We spent a good amount of effort and time making it and we would really appreciate that the entire tutorial [in our case, translation] isn’t copied and pasted on your blog even if you linked back cause no one’s gonna come to our blog if the information is duplicate. It is as good as stealing. Thank you."

You might be thinking, "Didn't you do this for the public good? Why's it matter if it gets posted here or somewhere else?"

Well, traffic tells us how we're doing, and it tells us how we can do things better. Lost traffic makes us think that we're maybe translating content that you don't think is important or interesting, and it'll make us do less. Maybe even stop.

In this instance, our entire translation was posted elsewhere. A tiny, nearly invisible, reference link was made at the very bottom, barely discernible from the surrounding text. The translator was not mentioned at the top, which implied that the site contributors and authors wrote it, which was not the case.  We're hoping that those who are doing this will read this post and stop doing so. We'll be monitoring these spots and attempt direct contact if nothing changes. If, still, nothing is done, we'll be making names public, and hope that our followers will support us.

This, of course, is not to discourage people from sharing our content. We really appreciate it when samples are posted elsewhere and people are lead here to read the entire thing. A paragraph sample preview on your personal blog or website with a link leading back here is fine, and, actually, thank you for doing so. But lifting our entire translation and, giving us a tiny pathetic reference link is not.

If you want to repost the entire thing for any reason at all (even in another language), please contact us. It's easy, fast, and, heck, we might even like your place so much that we'll tell others about it. Plus, you would've made some new friends.

So, bottom line, please stop taking our hard work, on accident or on purpose. We're doing this for you and for free.

-Thank you from the MIchi staff.

Magazines: NeoGenesis Vol. 50, the GazettE - Uruha

Hi everyone!

Enjoy the interview! Expect the rest of the band members to be posted in the following weeks.

Also, don't be a jerk and plagiarize. If you find someone doing so, please contact us. We'll keep the whole thing anonymous. To be honest, making this plagiarize proof just makes us not want to do things like these, and it really makes us have to think of dumb ways to make it harder for you to read.

Interview was taken from magazine scans provided by rawkstarr23 at LiveJournal.com in the GazettE Daily Community. Header themes were made from screencaps from orishimeinoue posted at GazettE Media.

And, here we go...

Uruha as the one who always carefully looks things through. What sort of things does this man feel when it comes to the GazettE? We'll discuss his opinion on the philosophy of love and being “cool”, but we'll also have a deep investigation on his take on things.

Giving Thanks and Treats

Here at MIchi, we've got lots to be thankful for. And, even though the kind-of international MIchi staff don't celebrate Thanksgivings at the same time, we try to keep these things in mind.

Clearly, some of the first things that come to mind are family and friends. Obviously, without their support, Mou Ichido never would have been started.

Without family, no one would have been able to give me the resources to learn and practice Japanese. And, frankly, without them, there is no way I would be here today to do this (in a very literal sense).

Without friends, no one would have been able to give me the mental support to keep going (or restart, haha) when things got tough. Friends like クマ☆G and hakitarun (translator over at sixth_gun on Twitter) have been with MIchi from the project's inception, and it's really because of their encouragements, teachings, helping, bullying, and wheedling that we're doing this project at all.

Last, but not least, of course, the people who follow our Twitter and Facebook, and subscribe to the blog. I sincerely believe that MIchi would not be here without all of you. The fact that so many of you sent encouragements and thanks made me feel value in what I was doing and would really be the high of my day.

So, this Thanksgiving, MIchi would like to give thanks to our family, friends, and followers. Thank you all for everything, and, as a gift back to you, we'd like to present you with snippets of the interview series of the GazettE from the most recent volume of Neo Genesis.

Reita:... I don't know how many thousands I've dated like that (laugh).... I'm a super playboy (laugh).

Uruha: I think, with the Dome, the entire band's dream has taken form, and it's beginning to be realized.

Aoi: Ah~I'm a sucker for animals (laughs), but pretty much anything makes me cry.

Kai: It's alright for me even if it doesn't actually develop into love. Saying stuff like "Oh that girl's cute" when you're walking down the street is an everyday occurrence isn't it?

Ruki: Passion' is wanting to be together, to embrace each other, that feeling of feeling your desires overcome you--those sort of things. For me, 'love' is when you live for the sake of the other person.

We're also considering doing a Girugamesh translation, but aren't completely sure yet. If you have scans of their magazine interview that you think are of interest, please email them to us!

We're back!

We're back.

Yes. We're back.

Mou Ichido has a new ninja staff member, Kuma G (クマ☆G), who
was bullied
volunteered to help with the workload. Kuma☆G was the one who updated earlier this evening and will be the one who will be monitoring all mentions/emails and assisting occasionally in other translations, and therefore relieve me of all these duties, so please address and thank our new staff member accordingly if you message us. Please continue to support MIchi and send us your lovely comments, emails and so on.

In regards to these past two months, I sincerely apologize for my absence.

In order to try and prevent overworking the very small team, MIchi will implement new policies and changes.
  • Twitter translations will be only between 9pm-12pm (21:00-0:00) Pacific Time. Translations will include all Tweets made in between this period of time, no more and no less. Followers can expect Tweets between at least Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday will be up for consideration depending on staff schedules. If you have any pressing Tweets you want translated, please email us.
  • Celebrities being followed will, unfortunately, decrease in order to create a more sensible and manageable workload. See the "Following" list for specific details. Requests, for the time being, are closed. Again, if there is something extremely pressing that needs to be translated, email us with a request.

We're also hoping to find more volunteers to help us. If you think you have a skill that's necessary here and you absolutely want to be a part of the MIchi team, please drop us a message. We're happy with anyone and anything (graphic designers, video editors, etc), and we'll get back to you if we see a fit.

Finally, more exciting news. There will be an update sometime this week with an interview translation from Neo Genesis. The interview will be released in segments over the next few weeks, so please stay tuned on MIchi's various channels.

Thank you again for your continued support of Mou Ichido, and please continue to support us in the future.
